Millet Namak pare/ Spicey Millet Crackers Savoury Crackers


Diwali is here and we all are searching for something new and different recipes for this occasion with health in mind.

So I just tried making these super crunchy, salty namak pare for this Diwali festive.

They turned out to be yum. It is not heavy on your stomach as it is made with millet. So why don’t you try these delicious namak pare recipes now.

A traditional recipe with a twist. Get your hands on these savoury, crunchy Crackers.

Millets used here are Ragi and Bajra that is Finger millet and Pearl Millet.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Ragi flour/finger millet
  • 1 cup Bajra/Pearl Millet
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon haldi powder/turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1.5 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon ajwain seeds/ carom
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup oil for shortening
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water for kneading the dough

Method

  • In a mixing bowl add the flour, then add in the spices along with ajwain salt and oil
  • Rub it with your hands
  • Use water to knead a dough
  • After kneading let it rest for 10 to 25 minutes
  • Heat oil in a kadhai
  • Meanwhile, roll down small portions of the dough cut into desired shapes and prick holes into it.
  • Deep fry till golden brown
  • Enjoy some masala chai
