Dhaba style Dal Makhani recipe


Including variety of lentils in your daily diet is a  sign of good health.  So I would recommend you all to make it a point of having variations in your food. Best way to be fit and consume healthy foods.

Today I’m sharing an easy Dal makhani recipe with tangy flavour of tamotoes and some spices also.

Dal Makhani

Go through the recipe card you will find this recipe to be so easy. Dal makhani is made from urad dal and rajma. Both are soaked overnight and cooked with some spices for that aromatic flavour. Health wise also this is not doubt good.

Can be enjoyed with steaming hot rice or roti.

Ingredients

  • Half cup whole urad dal / black lentils
  • 1 tablespoon rajma
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 4 tomato puree
  • 4 green chilli
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 5 to 6 garlic
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 1 black cardamom
  • Half cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • Half teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 cup fresh cream
  • Pinch of hing
  • 2 to 3 cups water
  • Salt

Method

  • Wash the lentils well and set aside
  • In a mixing jar make paste out of ginger, garlic and green chilli. Keep aside
  • Boil water and blanch tomatoes and make puree of it by peeling the skin. Keep aside
  • Heat a pressure cooker with oil and ghee then add in the whole spices
  • After the spices are done add in onions and saute till light brown
  • Now add the ginger garlic paste made before in this and fry till the raw smell is gone.
  • Then add tomato puree to it and cook for few seconds
  • Now it’s time for some masala add in kashmiri red chilli, haldi, coriander and red chilli powder , hing
  • Fry this well. Then add urad dal and rajma to it
  • Pour water, salt and garam masala powder
  • Close the lid and cook till 5 to 6 whistles  or till its done
  • Open the lid once it has cooled down
  • Add fresh cream to it mix this well and enjoy it with steaming hot rice or parathas.
