If you have ever visited Lonavala(Maharashtra) which is a hill station with it’s breath taking views and most famous Sweetcorn bhajiya. This is the place I tasted sweetcorn fritters and i was in love with it. Me being me, as i was enjoying this bhajiya i had in my mind am going to try this recipe at home. Here i am with this recipe which was made with minimal ingredients and tasted awesome.
Craving for something crispy and crunchy for this perfect weather do try out this recipe. Made with simple pantry ingredients like gram flour, onion and spices. Pair them with chutney or Tomato ketchup and enjoy with a hot cup of Tea!

- 1 cup boiled sweetcorn
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
- Water as needed
- Oil for deep frying
Step-by-Step Recipe
Step 1: Prepare the batter
- In a mixing bowl, add boiled sweetcorn, chopped onion, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
- Mix well.
- Add gram flour and sprinkle little water to form a thick batter(not runny). The batter should coat the sweetcorn and onions.
Step 2: Heat Oil
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame.
Step 3: Fry the Fritters
- Drop small spoonfuls of batter into hot oil.
- Fry until the fritters turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Step 4: Serve Hot
- Serve the crispy sweetcorn fritters with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
Pro Tips
- Add a pinch of garam masala for extra flavour.
- For crunchy fritters avoil adding too much water.
- You can also air fry or shallow fry for healthier version.
