Sindhi Seyal Bread (Spicy Masala Bread)


Sindhi Seyal Bread is a delicious and comforting dish from Sindhi cuisine. It is made by cooking bread pieces in a flavorful onion-tomato masala with spices. Traditionally, it’s a great way to use leftover bread and transform it into a spicy, satisfying breakfast or snack. The dish is simple, quick, and packed with bold flavors.

But instead of tomatoes I have used veggies here and tomato sauce. One can cal this breaf fry also.

Best lunch box option for kids. One can enjoy this dish as breakfast also. Cooking this dish is quite simple and easy, comes together within minutes.

Sindhi Seyal Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 3 to 4 green chillies
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1 tsp salt(as per taste)
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • Half cup boiled sweetcorn
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Half tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • Half tsp Garam Masala powder
  • Chaat masala
  • Tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 10 to 15 bread slices cut into small cubes
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Method

  • Cut the bread slices into medium pieces, slit the edges
  • Heat oil in a pan, add green chillies, onion and saute
  • Now add in grated carrots, saute for few seconds then add in boiled sweetcorn
  • Time to add in the masala. First goes salt,turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, give this a nice mix.
  • Now add in cumin powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala,tomato sauce. Again give it a nice mix/
  • Pour water, bring it to boil. Add in the bread slices and mix well.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot

Serving Suggestion

Serve Sindhi Seyal Bread hot with a cup of tea. It also tastes great with a squeeze of lemon or topped with sev for extra crunch.

Tips

Adjust the spice level according to your taste.

Use day-old bread for best results.

Add boiled potatoes for a more filling version.
