Kung Pao Paneer Recipe


Kung pao is one such recipe that if you try cooking at home you will stop buying it from restuarant. Kung pao has two variations, one is dry and the other is a gravy one. Both are super delicious in taste.

Today I am sharing the dry version.

Kung pao is a type of Chinese dish or sauce that contains spices and peanuts.

The exact origin is still uncertain, but it is believed to be named after Ding Baozhen , a late Qing Dynasty official and governor of Sichuan Province.

This is a fairly less spicy dish compared to other Sichuan dishes.

Let’s talk about the taste here

Kung pao has a sweet, salty, sour, and spicy taste. Made with which is coated with corn flour and shallow fried till golden brown. Crispy from out and soft within tossed with veggies and sauces this is a delicious recipe to try.

Served as a side dish or appetizers. Best party snack I can say if you have your kitties at home.

This is a Protien packed vegetarian dish. which kids will love when served in their tiffin boxes or at home.

Ingredients for Paneer coating

  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 4 tablespoon corn flour
  • 500 grams Paneer/ Cottage cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Half teaspoon black pepper powder

Method

  • Take a mixing bowl add corn flour with salt and black pepper powder, mix this well
  • Now add cubed paneer in this mixture dry coat it well and set aside for 5 minutes
  • Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the paneer till golden in colour
  • Remove it and set aside

Ingredients for Kung Pao Paneer

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 3 to 4 dry red chilli
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 cup Broccoli par boiled
  • 1 cup red/ yellow bell pepper
  • Half cup Capsicum
  • Half salt
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Half teaspoon soy sauce
  • Half teaspoon tomato sauce
  • Half teaspoon sesame seed
  • Pinch of black pepper powder
  • Half cup onions
  • 2 tablespoon roasted peanuts
  • 1 cup corn flour slurry

Method for making Kung pao paneer

  • In a non stick pan pour oil then add garlic and saute
  • Add dry chilli along with grated ginger and cook
  • Then add in the veggies given above and fry for few seconds
  • Keep the flame on medium flame
  • Now add in the sauces [ soy, tomato]
  • Then add in lemon juice mix all well
  • Now add in fried paneer with salt, black pepper powder and sesame seeds
  • Pour in the corn flour slurry mix it well
  • Once the veggies are coated well with the slurry top it with roasted peanuts
  • Enjoy this kung pao paneer when hot.
